Description

This is a house, dating from the mid-18th century. It is constructed of squared coursed ironstone with a facade of limestone ashlar, and has a Collyweston slate roof. Originally planned as a two-unit building, it is two storeys high with an attic. The front elevation features a three-window range of 20th-century casement windows set within original openings. These windows are topped by scored stone lintels with keyblocks on the first floor and gauged stone heads at ground floor level. A 20th-century door is located to the right of the centre, also under a similar head. A chamfered plinth runs along the base of the building. The right-hand gable has an ashlar parapet, and there are truncated ashlar stacks at the ridge and end of the roof. A 19th-century extension is located at the rear. Inside, the entrance hall contains remnants of an open fireplace with a bressumer and stop-chamfered spine beams with run-out stops. A late 18th-century staircase has two turned balusters per tread.
