Description

Home Farmhouse, also known as The Mullions, is a row of three houses dating from the 17th century, with some parts refronted in the 19th century. A datestone at the rear indicates the year 1697. The buildings are constructed from coursed ironstone rubble and squared coursed stone, topped with thatch, slate, and artificial stone slate roofs, and feature brick and stone stacks. The row is two storeys high with an attic and consists of seven bays.

No. 38, located on the right, has a two-light stone mullioned window in the left bay and three similar windows on the first floor. The right gable end is coped with kneelers. No. 40 has a 19th-century facade, likely a refronting of an earlier structure, with an entrance in the right bay featuring a wood lintel and a four-panel half-glazed door. To the left, there is a small one-light window with a wood lintel, a two-light casement window on the first floor, and a similar window in the attic.

No. 42 features a cart entrance with a wood lintel and a double plank door in the second bay from the left. There is a one-light window with a wood lintel in the right bay, a two-light casement window with a wood lintel to the left, and two- and three-light windows with stone mullions in the right bay and the second bay from the right on the first floor. To the left of the cart entrance, there are outbuildings that include a three-light window with a wood lintel and an old iron casement. The gable end is coped with kneelers.

The rear of No. 38 displays the datestone JW/1697, a central doorway with a keystoned lintel and a ridged plank door, as well as two- and three-light stone mullioned windows on the first floor and a gabled half dormer with a two-light stone mullioned window. The interior has not been inspected.
