Description
The Elms is a house dating from the 17th to 18th century, with an early 19th-century facade. It is constructed of ironstone ashlar and squared coursed stone, featuring slate and tile roofs with brick stacks. The building has a T-plan layout, is two storeys high with an attic, and consists of three bays. The central doorway has plain stone jambs and a half-glazed door with an overlight, framed by a porch with stone jambs and a timber pediment. On either side of the doorway are tri-partite sash windows with stone mullions and plain stone frames. The first floor and attic also have similar windows in the outer bays, with a plain sash window in the centre of the first floor and attic. At the rear, there is a double gabled wing from the 17th or 18th century, which has been altered in the 19th century and features casement windows with wood lintels, along with a coped gable end with kneelers. The interior has not been inspected. The building served as the Rectory until the mid-19th century.
