Description

Clearview is a house located on Eydon High Street, dating from the 17th century, with later enlargements and remodeling in the 19th century. The building is constructed from coursed ironstone rubble and features squared quoins, a corrugated asbestos roof, and brick stacks. It stands two storeys high with an attic and consists of two bays.

The entrance is located in the left bay, featuring a four-centred stone arch and a plank door. To the right of the entrance, there is a three-light casement window with a concrete lintel. On the first floor, the left bay has a blocked one-light window with a stone frame, while the right bay has a 19th-century three-light wood casement window with a wood lintel.

The right side of the house, facing the street, includes a 20th-century three-light casement window with a concrete lintel on the ground floor, and a two-light casement window with a stone frame and square hood on the first floor. In the attic, there is a two-light casement window in a moulded stone frame with a flat hood. Notably, there is a sundial incised on a stone to the left, dated 1641. The gable end is coped and features kneelers.

At the rear, there is a 19th-century extension made of coursed ironstone rubble with a corrugated iron roof. This extension has one bay, is two storeys high, and includes a 20th-century doorway, which now serves as the main entrance, along with a three-light casement window with a wood lintel on the first floor. The interior has not been inspected but is noted to have chamfered spine beams and an open fireplace.
