Description

Tudor Cottage is a house dating from the 17th century, constructed from coursed ironstone rubble with limestone banding and squared ironstone quoins. It features a slate roof and a central stone stack, forming an L-plan structure with two storeys, an attic, and a cellar, comprising two bays.

On the cellar level, there is a 3-light stone mullioned window in the left bay. The ground floor has two 3-light stone mullioned windows with square hoods, while the first floor has two 2-light stone mullioned windows without hoods. The gable ends are coped with kneelers. The left side of the building also has 3-light stone mullioned windows with square hoods on both the ground and first floors, and a similar 2-light window in the attic.

The entrance is located at the rear, featuring a wood lintel and a 6-panel double door. To the right, there is a 2-light stone mullioned window with a square hood, and on the first floor, a 3-light casement window is found in the right bay, along with a one-light window to the left.

At the rear, there is a 20th-century ironstone extension that is two storeys high and one bay wide, with the main entrance on the side, which has a wood lintel and a 20th-century six-panel door.

Inside, the cottage has an open fireplace with a bread oven and a stone fireplace featuring a 4-centred arch and cut spandrels in the ground floor room. There is also a set of stop-chamfered beams and a 19th/20th-century staircase.
