Description
Pear Tree Cottage is a house dating back to the 17th century, with a two-bay extension added in the early 18th century. A datestone, marked "IM 1701", is visible in the left gable. The house is constructed of coursed ironstone rubble, with the 18th-century extension built of squared coursed limestone banded with ironstone. It has a thatched roof and brick and stone stacks. The house is two storeys and has an attic, with a five-bay facade. The entrance, in the second bay from the left, features a wood lintel, a 20th-century half-glazed door, and a timber hood supported by brackets. A three-light stone mullioned window is located to the left. Another three-light window is to the right, topped with a stone hood and a 20th-century metal casement. Two further three-light windows are to the right, fitted with 20th-century wood lintels and metal casements. Stone mullioned two-light windows are present in the left bay and the second bay from the left on the first floor. The remaining first-floor windows have wood lintels and 20th-century metal casements. The left gable end has a cope and kneelers. The left side of the house displays three-light stone mullioned windows with stone hoods on both the ground and first floors. A similar two-light window (now blocked) is located in the attic. The interior has been remodelled in the 20th century, featuring chamfered beams and an altered 20th-century open fireplace.
