Description
The lodge and gateway at the entrance to the Manor House were built between 1859 and 1860 by E.F. Law. Constructed from squared coursed ironstone, the building features a tiled roof and a stone stack, showcasing a Scottish Baronial style. The lodge is situated to the right and is two storeys high with two bays. To the left, there is a round turret topped with a conical roof, which has a one-light window in a stone frame on both floors. The gabled bay on the right includes a two-light stone mullioned window on each floor. The entrance on the left side features a gabled stone porch and a doorway with a four-centred arch and a four-panel door. The interior has not been inspected. The gateway to the left consists of a segmental stone arch with stone coping. The raised centerpiece displays a stone plaque with the shields of arms of Edward Sempill and his wife Baroness Maria Jane, along with the date 1860. A rope moulding encircles the plaque and the ends of the archway are finished with boldly carved knots.
