Description
Barewell Cottage and Rose Cottage are a pair of cottages dating from the late 18th century. They are constructed from coursed squared ironstone and coursed rubble, with slate and tile roofs and brick stacks. The cottages are two storeys high and consist of four bays. The doorways in the right bay and the second bay from the right feature wooden lintels and plank doors. There is a similar doorway in the fourth bay from the right, while the second bay from the left has a 20th-century panelled door. The left bay contains a 20th-century casement window with a wooden lintel, and the third bay from the left and the third bay from the right have three-light casement windows with wooden lintels. On the first floor, there are two-light casement windows with wooden lintels. Inside, Rose Cottage has an open fireplace and a bread oven, while Barewell Cottage has not been inspected. The cottages are included for their group value.
