Description
Touchwood is a house that was formerly a public house, dating from the 18th century and remodelled in the 19th century. It is constructed of coursed squared ironstone and coursed rubble, topped with an artificial stone slate roof and flanked by brick and stone stacks. The building has two storeys and three bays. The central doorway features a wood lintel and a five-panel door that is partly glazed, along with a timber lattice work porch. The flanking windows have wood lintels and four-pane sashes with side lights, and similar windows are found on the first floor. The gable ends are coped and have kneelers. Although the interior was not inspected, the building was formerly known as "The Old Crown" and still shows traces of a painted sign on the front advertising "Hopcraft and Norris Celebrated Ales."
