Description

Glebe Cottage is a cottage, originally comprising three dwellings, dating back to the 17th century, with later remodelling in the 20th century. Constructed of coursed limestone and ironstone rubble, with ironstone banding in the two bays on the left, it features squared ironstone quoins and an artificial stone slate roof. Brick stacks are also present. The cottage is two storeys high and five bays wide. Windows in the third and fourth bays from the right retain 17th-century square stone hoods, now fitted with 20th-century three-light wood casements. Two 2-light casement windows with wood lintels are on the right-hand side, and three similar 3-light windows are on the left. All first-floor windows are 3-light wood casements with wood lintels. A coped gable end with kneelers is found on the left. A 2-light stone mullioned window is set into the first floor on the left side. The rear entrance features a wood lintel, plank door, and a 20th-century stone porch. Inside, the ground-floor rooms have chamfered spine beams. An open fireplace and bread oven are also present.
