Description

Gaya Cottage is a late 17th-century cottage located on the north side of Blacksmith’s Lane in Eydon. It is constructed of squared, coursed ironstone with a slate roof and brick stacks. The cottage is two storeys high with two bays. A 20th-century stone and timber porch sits centrally, featuring an entrance with a wooden lintel and a studded plank door and overlight. A three-light stone mullioned window with a stone hood is on the left, and a similar two-light window is on the right. Two-light windows, also with stone mullions but without hoods, are on the first floor. The roof has kneelers. The interior is reportedly characterised by a set of chamfered beams and an open fireplace with a bread oven.
