Description

Ashby Cottage is a late 17th-century house located on the west side of Eydon High Street. The house is constructed of coursed ironstone rubble with an asbestos tile roof and brick stacks. It is two storeys high and originally had two bays. A central doorway features a wood lintel, a studded plank door, and a gabled timber hood. A five-light stone mullioned window with a moulded frame is located to the left, and a three-light window to the right has a wood lintel and an old iron casement. On the first floor, a three-light casement window with a wood lintel is present in the left bay, and a similar two-light window is in the right bay. A large central stack is prominent, and a 19th-century stack is located on the right gable. There is a right-hand extension with a lean-to roof, constructed of coursed ironstone rubble. This single-storey extension includes a two-light window with a wood lintel and an old iron casement. The interior has not been inspected.
