Description

A row of three cottages located on the east side of High Street, Eydon. The cottages date to the early 18th century, but were reconstructed in the early 20th century. They are built of coursed ironstone rubble with a fishscale tile roof and brick stacks. The row has two storeys and seven bays. The entrance to number 8 is in the second bay from the right, featuring a wooden lintel, a 20th-century glazed door, and a gabled timber hood supported by brackets. The entrances to numbers 10 and 12 are at the rear, accessed via a carriage way with a wooden lintel in the third bay from the left. Ground floor windows have wooden lintels and three-light wooden casements, with the exception of a two-light casement window located in the second bay from the left. First-floor windows also have wooden lintels and three-light wooden casements, except for the two-light casement windows in the right bay and the second bay from the right. The interior was not inspected. Local records indicate that the cottages were rebuilt after a fire in 1905 that damaged buildings along the east side of High Street. The buildings are included on the list because of their contribution to the group value of the street.
