Description
No. 17 High Street is a pair of cottages that have been combined into one dwelling. They were built in the early 18th century and extended in the 19th century. The building features coursed ironstone rubble and brick, topped with an artificial stone slate roof and a rendered stack. It is two storeys high and consists of three bays. The entrance, located in the second bay from the right, has a wooden lintel and a four-panel door, flanked by three-light casement windows, also with wooden lintels. The first floor has similar windows. To the left, there is a 19th-century brick extension that is two storeys tall and one bay wide. Its entrance is in the right bay, featuring a wooden lintel, a four-panel door, and a gabled timber hood. This extension also has three-light casement windows with wooden lintels on both floors. Inside, there is an open fireplace with an original timber bressumer, and the original roof structure, including purlins and rafters, is exposed on the first floor.
