Description

Blenheim Cottage is a row of three cottages located on Eydon High Street, dating from the 17th and 18th centuries, but reconstructed in the early 20th century. The cottages are built from coursed squared ironstone and coursed rubble, topped with a fish-scale tile roof and featuring brick stacks. The layout is L-shaped.

No. 18, which faces the street, is a single storey with an attic and has two bays. It features a central doorway with a wooden lintel and a four-panel door, with three-light casement windows on either side. There are gabled half dormers with two-light casements. The right gable end is coped with kneelers, and there is a stone plaque on the right side that reads "burnt down 1905."

At the rear is Blenheim Cottage, which is two storeys with two bays. Its entrance is on the right side of No. 18 and includes a wooden lintel and a plank door. To the right, there is a three-light stone mullioned window with a moulded frame and no hood, along with similar two-light windows in the right bay and on the first floor.

No. 14, located to the right, is also two storeys with two bays. Its entrance is to the left of centre, featuring a wooden lintel and a four-panel part-glazed door. It has two-light windows on either side with wooden lintels, and similar windows are present on the first floor. All windows have 20th-century wooden casements.

The cottages were damaged by a fire along the east side of High Street in 1905 and are included for their group value.
