Description

Park House is a house built in the early 19th century, with a later extension added in the 19th century. It is constructed of red brick in a Flemish bond pattern and features a hipped slate roof with brick lateral stacks. The house has a two-unit central staircase plan and is two stories tall, with a three-window range.

The central entrance consists of a four-panel part-glazed double-leaf door that is topped by an overlight and framed by panelled reveals, a pilastered wood surround, and a cornice or hood. The ground and first floors have 12-pane sash windows, each with gauged brick lintels. The central bay of the house projects slightly forward. The building has a plinth and deep overhanging eaves. To the left, there is a lower two-storey extension. The right side and rear elevations feature flared headers.

At the rear, there is a part-glazed central door with a moulded wood surround. The rear also has 16-pane sash windows on the ground and first floors, except for a large 18-pane sash window in the centre of the first floor that lights the staircase. All rear windows have gauged brick lintels.

Inside, the house is noted for its stone diamond-patterned paved staircase hall, which includes an open-well staircase. The staircase features stick balusters, carved tread ends, and a steep ramped and wreathed mahogany handrail.
