Description
Old Mint House is a house dating from the early 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble and features old plain-tile roofs, along with brick ridge and end stacks. The building has an L-plan layout and consists of two storeys and an attic, with a one-window range.
The entrance is marked by a ridged and studded plank door located to the right of centre, set within a moulded wood surround and a pilastered and pedimented doorcase. To the left of the door is a 20th-century window, while a small three-light leaded window is positioned at the far left. A 20th-century window is also found on the first floor, and there is a wing extending to the rear left.
Inside, the house features ogee-stop-chamfered spine beams, open fireplaces with chamfered bressumers, and a bolection-moulded wood fireplace surround in the upper room.
