Description
The Villa is a house built in the early 19th century, with later additions and alterations, including an extension to the right that has no special interest. It is constructed of pinkish-brown brick in Flemish bond, topped with a cast tile roof and features ashlar dressings. The building has a central hallway plan and stands two storeys high with three bays. There is a plinth and three steps leading up to the central entrance, which has a 20th-century glazed door beneath a radial fanlight with decorative glazing, all framed by a doorcase with engaged columns, a frieze, and a hood. The windows throughout the house are 12-pane pivoting types, each with ashlar sills and wedge lintels. The building also has ashlar kneelers and coping, as well as end stacks. At the rear, there is a staircase window that is a 16-pane sash with radial glazing at the top, an ashlar sill, and a round arch with imposts and a keystone. Inside, there is an open well staircase with turned balusters, fluted architraves on the doors, alcoves in the sitting room, and a staircase arch. The staircase window is framed by a pilastered surround, and there are six-fielded-panel doors throughout.
