Description
This is a cottage dating from the 17th and 18th centuries, located on the north side of The Square in Aynho. The walls are constructed from uncoursed limestone rubble, and the roof is tiled with brick stacks. The cottage is arranged in an L-shape. It has two storeys and two bays. A doorway in the left bay features a wood lintel, a four-panelled door, and a 20th-century wooden tiled hood supported by brackets. To the left of the doorway is a three-light wooden casement window with a wood lintel, and a similar two-light window is situated on the first floor. A gabled wing, likely dating from the 18th century, extends to the left and contains 20th-century windows. The interior includes a winder staircase built into the thickness of the rear wall. There is an open fireplace with a bread oven, and reused 17th-century panelling in the hall. A sitting room has a mid-18th century corner fireplace with a dentil cornice and a keystone.
