Description

This is a cottage dating from the 17th and 18th centuries, located on the north side of School Lane in Eydon. The building is constructed of coursed ironstone rubble, with the left bay having been refaced in brick. It has an artificial stone slate and pantile roof and brick stacks. The cottage is two storeys high and two bays wide. A doorway in the second bay from the left features a wood lintel, a plank door, and a gabled timber hood supported by brackets. There are three-light casement windows to the left and right, both with wood lintels, and a two-light casement window with a wood lintel in the right bay. Matching three-light casement windows with wood lintels are found on the first floor. The left gable end is coped and features kneelers. Inside, the cottage has stop-chamfered spine beams, an open fireplace with an original bread oven, stud partitions on the first floor, and part of the original roof structure remains exposed.
