Description
The Old School House is a 19th-century building that was originally a school and is now a house. It has a datestone from 1854 and was converted into a dwelling in 1981. The building is attributed to the design of Sir Henry Dryden of Canons Ashby. It is constructed from coursed squared ironstone with a tiled roof and stone stacks. The structure is one storey with an attic and consists of three bays.
To the left, there is a gabled two-storey porch featuring an entrance with a four-centred stone arch and a ribbed plank door. Above the entrance is a stone plaque carved with the motto "Virtutis Amore." In the attic, there is a three-light stone mullioned window. On the ground floor to the right, there are two three-light stone mullioned windows. The building also has gabled half dormers with three-light stone mullioned windows and coped gable ends with kneelers. The interior has not been inspected.
