Description

43 and 44 The Lane are a pair of cottages dating from the 18th century. They are built from coursed ironstone rubble and feature a thatched roof with brick stacks. The cottages are one storey high with an attic and have a total of seven bays. The doorways, which have wooden lintels and plank doors, are located in the right bay and the second and fourth bays from the left. The second bay from the right contains a three-light casement window with a wooden lintel, while the other ground floor windows are two-light casements, also with wooden lintels. The cottages have dormers that feature two-light casements. Inside No. 44, there is an open fireplace with a moulded wooden mantelshelf.
