Description
59 and 60 The Lane are two small houses built in the late 17th century or early 18th century. They are constructed from coursed marlstone rubble with squared quoins and wooden lintels, topped with a thatch roof featuring brick stacks. Each house has a two-unit plan and stands two storeys tall.
No. 60, on the left, has a plank door to the right, a two-light casement window at the extreme right, and a large three-light casement window to the left of centre. The first floor features casement windows with two and three lights. No. 59 has a central doorway situated between leaded casement windows, with a three-light window to the right and a two-light window to the left. It also has a two-light leaded casement window on the first floor. The left return wall of No. 60 includes a gable parapet, and the two stacks are positioned on either side of the higher roof of No. 60. The interiors have not been inspected.
