Description
This is a house located at 62 The Lane, dating from the 17th century, with possible earlier elements and alterations made in the early 19th century. It is constructed from coursed squared marlstone and some random rubble, featuring ashlar dressings. The roof is made of Stonesfield slate and has limestone-ashlar gable stacks. The building is designed in an L-plan and has two storeys, with a wing projecting on the left side.
The front of the house has three windows, which include two-light stone-mullioned windows with labels and lattice glazing in the gable wall. The main range features three-light mullioned windows in the right bay and two-light mullioned windows next to the wing; all windows have lattice glazing, and the ground-floor windows include labels. There is a segmental-arched doorway located in the return wall of the wing. The rear of the main range has additional mullioned windows. The gables are topped with 19th-century parapets, and the main range has 19th-century stacks with plinths and moulded caps. The lower parts of both ranges may consist of rubble stonework from the 16th or early 17th century. The interior has not been inspected.
