Description

A row of four cottages, likely dating from the late 18th century and remodelled in the early 20th century. The cottages are built of coursed ironstone rubble, with some areas rebuilt in brick on the sides and rear, and have a thatched roof with brick stacks. The two cottages on the right are slightly lower than the others. A central passageway leads to the rear, featuring an arched entrance with a keystoned lintel. The doorways, located in the second bay from the right, the fifth bay from the right, and the third bay from the left, have wood lintels and plank doors. All windows are 2-light casements with wood lintels. A single-story, one-bay extension, with pebbledashed walls and a wood shingle roof, is situated to the left and provides access to number 39 with a wood lintel and plank door alongside a side light. The interior remains uninspected. The cottages are included on the list for their group value.
