Description

The gates, gatepiers, and attached walls at the west entrance to the Manor House date from the 17th century and are constructed from ironstone ashlar. The gatepiers are square and rusticated, featuring a moulded entablature and bottle-shaped finials. The double wooden gates, which have a concave top, were likely added around 1920 and may have been designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens.

To the left of the left gatepier, there is a wall from the 17th century made of squared coursed ironstone with moulded stone coping. This wall borders the road and turns back to connect with the north range of the Manor House. A similar wall is attached to the right gatepier and includes a doorway with a plain stone frame and a wooden door next to the main gateway. This wall also borders the main road and turns back to link with the stables.
