Description

The gatehouse at the south entrance to the Manor House dates from the 16th or 17th century. It features a ground floor made of coursed squared ironstone and an upper floor with close studded timber framing and cross braces, topped with a tile roof. The structure is two storeys high and consists of two bays. The carriage entrance is located in the right bay and has a wooden lintel with chamfered stone jambs. To the left of the entrance is a two-light stone-mullioned window set in a moulded frame. On the upper floor, there is a four-light wood-mullioned window above the carriageway and a one-light wood-framed window to the left. The inner doorway on the left side of the carriage arch features a moulded wood frame with a four-centred arch and an old studded plank door. The interior has not been inspected. There is a two-storey extension to the left, built around 1870, made of buff brick, which has three bays and a central gable.
