Description
29 and 30 The Lane are two cottages located in Maidensgrove, dating from the early 18th century, with an earlier cottage on the left. They are built of red/orange brick in Flemish bond with flared headers, set on a flint base, and feature a gabled old tile roof with a brick ridge stack. The cottages have a 4-unit plan, with two units for each cottage, and are one storey high with an attic, presenting a four-window range. Each cottage has segmental arches over plank doors and modern three-light casement windows on either side, with similar casements in the dormers. There are modern one-storey extensions added to the sides. Inside, the cottage on the right includes chamfered beams, plain joists, an open fireplace with a rear bread-oven, and a timber-framed partition to the right of the door. The first floor and the left cottage have not been inspected but are likely to be of interest.
