Description
Gate House Farmhouse is a house dating from the 17th century, consisting of two builds with 19th-century additions. It is constructed from squared coursed ironstone and has a slate roof with a stone stack on the left. The original layout was L-shaped, with an extension added around 1895 at the angle. The west front has two storeys, an attic, and a cellar, featuring two bays. The right bay is likely from the mid-17th century, while the left bay was added around 1690, with the division indicated by quoins to the right of the entrance.
In the second bay from the left, there is a 4-light stone mullioned window for the cellar. The right bay and the second bay from the right each have 2-light stone mullioned cellar windows. The doorway in the second bay from the right has a stone lintel and a studded plank door. To the left, there are two 3-light stone mullioned windows with square hoods, and to the right, a sash window with sidelights and a square stone hood. On the first floor, there are more 3-light stone mullioned windows. The gable ends are coped and have kneelers. The interior has not been inspected.
