Description
No. 5 Larkhall Lane is a cottage dated 1768, with 20th-century alterations and additions. It is constructed from coursed squared ironstone and features a concrete tile roof with brick stacks at each end. The cottage has a two-unit plan, stands two storeys high with an attic, and has a one-window range. The plank door located in the gable end facing the street is framed with a pegged wood surround and has a wood lintel that extends over a one-light casement window to the left. On the first floor, there is a two-light casement window with a wood lintel, and the gable has a datestone that has been renewed with cement. The front and rear of the cottage have small one- and two-light casements with wood lintels and quoins. There is a 20th-century roof dormer and a two-storey 20th-century wing projecting from the front to the right. Inside, the cottage features an open fireplace with a chamfered bressumer.
