Description
This is a cottage located at 65 Billing Road, dated 1693 and altered in the 20th century. It is built from coursed limestone rubble, banded with ironstone, and features a slate roof with a brick end stack. The cottage has a one-unit plan, is two stories tall with an attic, and has a one-window range. The gable end facing the road is the main elevation and includes a two-light casement window on the ground floor with a diamond stop-chamfered lintel, a one-light casement window to the right also with a stop-chamfered lintel, a two-light casement window on the first floor with a diamond stop-chamfered lintel, and a one-light casement window in the attic. Above these windows is a datestone inscribed with NC/ANNO/1693. The gable is topped with ironstone coping and has kneelers and ironstone quoins. To the left side, there is a 20th-century plank door with a wooden lintel. Inside, the cottage features an open fireplace with a chamfered bressumer and an ogee stop-chamfered spine beam. The property now forms part of No. 67 behind it, which is not of special architectural interest.
