Description

No. 8 West Street is a barn that has been converted into a shop, dating from the late 17th century. It is built of regular coursed lias stone and has a plain tiled roof. The building has a single unit plan and stands two storeys high. The front features a one-window range with a 20th-century fixed-light window and a 20th-century door to the left. The right-hand corner of the building is chamfered with corbelling above, and it has gable parapets. This structure is included for its group value with Holly Cottage, The Close, and Nos. 5, 7, 11, 17, and 19 West Street, which together create a focal point in the area.
