Description
Ball's Bridge is an accommodation bridge over the Grand Union Canal, built between 1810 and 1814, with some minor later alterations. It was probably designed by Benjamin Bevan. The bridge is constructed of brick and features a single elliptical arch. There is a string course and solid parapets topped with half-round blue brick copings. The bridge has buttress piers with stone copings and cast iron rope fenders on the arch side facing the towpath. The canal approach walls also have stone copings. Ball's Bridge is part of a notable series of bridges with a standard design along this section of the canal.
