Description
Bridge Number 22, also known as Haddon Road Bridge, is a road bridge over the Grand Union Canal Leicester Line, built between 1810 and 1814. It has undergone slight alterations in the 20th century and is likely designed by Benjamin Bevan. The bridge is constructed of brick and features a single elliptical arch, with an arch ring made of a single course of protruding burnt headers. It has a string course and a slightly cambered, solid parapet with brick and some cement coping. The bridge also includes solid buttress piers topped with stone copings. It is part of a notable series of 'standard design' bridges along this canal.
