Description

Bridge 116 is a bridge over the Grand Union Canal, built around 1800 and altered around 1840. It is constructed of brown brick with a band course and stone coping along the parapet. The bridge features a depressed arch over the canal and a narrower arch to the west, which can only be seen from the north side. There is a wide pilaster between the arches on the north side, while the south parapet has been altered at the western end. The north parapet extends as a ramped wall and tow-path on the eastern side. The second arch originally spanned a narrow duplicate lock that has since been filled in.
