Description

Bridge Number 52 on the Grand Union Canal is an accommodation bridge built between 1810 and 1814, likely designed by Benjamin Bevan. The bridge features a single elliptical arch made of brick, with an arch ring consisting of a single course of protruding bricks. It has a string course and a slightly cambered solid parapet topped with brick and cement coping. The bridge is supported by solid buttress piers that have stone copings. This bridge is part of a notable series of standard design bridges along the canal, with slight alterations made in the 20th century.
