Description
The Thatch Cottage is a cottage that was formerly a pair of cottages, dating from the late 17th century, with 19th and 20th-century alterations. It features rendered timber-framing and brick, topped with a thatched roof and a brick gable stack. The building has a partially chamfered brick plinth and is a single storey with an attic.
The east front has three bays, with a central three-light casement window that has a cambered arch over the two left-hand lights. To the left of this window is another similar window, followed by a small plain sash window with a wooden lintel. To the right, there is a fixed light window with a two-light casement beyond it. Above these, there are two eyebrow dormers; the left dormer contains a three-light sliding sash window, while the right dormer has a 20th-century two-light casement window. Inside, the cottage features exposed main beams with run-out stops and joists.
