Description
Bentley's Farmhouse is a house dating from the late 18th century, with some earlier 18th-century work incorporated. It is constructed of limestone ashlar and has a roof covered by snow at the time of the survey, along with brick stacks. The building has a T-plan, is two storeys high with an attic, and features three bays. The entrance is located in the second bay from the right and consists of a wooden lintel, a four-panel door, and a 20th-century gabled timber porch. To the left, there is a 19th-century bay window with a flat lead roof and wooden casements. The right bay contains a four-light window with a wooden lintel and an old iron casement, while a similar window is found in the left bay. On the first floor, there are four-light casement windows with wooden lintels in the left bay and the second bay from the left, and a three-light window in the right bay. There is a blocked attic window between the right and centre bays. At the rear, there is an extension, likely from the early 18th century, built with similar materials. This extension is one storey with a loft, has two bays, and features a three-light casement window with a wooden lintel in the right bay, along with a blocked window to the left and blocked openings to the loft above. Inside, there is an inglenook fireplace with a small window on the left side and a cupboard with a slatted door and old iron hinges to the right. The interior also includes panelled shutters and 18th-century panelled doors, while the kitchen in the rear wing has a set of chamfered beams.
