Description

The building is a village hall that was originally a school, dating from the early 18th century. A datestone on the right gable reads "H.I.M./1720". It was probably remodeled in the 19th century. The structure is made of coursed squared limestone and features a slate roof with a brick stack. It is a single storey with three bays. The central doorway has a moulded stone frame and a plank door, with a stone sundial positioned above it. There are two-light windows on either side, each with a flat stone mullion and flat stone frame. The gable ends are coped and include kneelers. The interior has not been inspected. This building was constructed as a charity school for poor boys by John and Mary Hodges.
