Description

The Old Farmhouse is an early 18th-century house, that has been altered in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble with a slate roof and blue brick stacks. The house is two storeys and an attic, with four bays. The right-hand bay has a 16-pane sash window with a wooden lintel. A two-light wood mullioned and transomed window with a wooden lintel is found in the left-hand bay. Similar windows are present in the second and third bays from the right. The triple window in the second bay from the left features a central two-light wood mullioned and transomed window flanked by one-light windows with a transom, all set beneath a continuous wooden lintel. The first floor also has a two-light wood mullioned and transomed window with wooden lintels. Three flat-roofed dormers each contain a two-light casement window. The gable ends are coped, with kneelers. A 20th-century extension to the left is built of coursed ironstone rubble with a flat roof, and is one bay high. It has an entrance at the rear. The interior has not been inspected. The building is included for group value.
