Description

Eagle House is an early 18th-century house, with the right-hand bay likely dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble, with a slate roof and stone stacks. The house has two storeys, an attic, and a cellar, and originally comprised three bays. A doorway is located in the second bay from the left, topped with a stone lintel. A three-light casement window with a stone lintel is set to the right, and a similar window with a wooden lintel occupies the left-hand bay. First-floor windows are also casements: three-light windows with wooden lintels to the outer bays, and a two-light window with a stone lintel above the doorway. Gable ends are coped and feature kneelers, while attic dormers each have a three-light casement window. A blocked two-light cellar window with a flat stone mullion is situated on the left side. The interior features chamfered spine beams. A stone fireplace is found in a ground-floor room, exhibiting a four-centred arch and carved strapwork detailing, believed to have been moved from its original location. A wall, likely of the 18th century, extends from the right side of the house at the rear. It’s constructed of coursed squared limestone and has flat stone coping.
