Description

The Farmhouse is a house dating from the early 18th century. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble and coursed squared stone, topped with a tile roof and features moulded stone flanking stacks. The building is two storeys high with an attic and has a U-plan shape, characterized by two projecting gabled wings at the rear.

The central doorway is framed by a 19th-century gabled brick porch and features a part-glazed four-panel door with an overlight and wood lintel. On either side of the door, there are three-light casement windows with wood lintels. The window openings have been enlarged in the 19th and 20th centuries, with similar windows present in the outer bays on the first floor. The centre of the first floor has a two-light casement window with a wood lintel.

The left side of the rear has a wing built with similar materials, which is two storeys high and one bay wide. It includes a three-light window with old wood mullions on the ground floor on the north side and 20th-century windows with old wood lintels on the south side. This wing has a coped gable end with a brick and stone stack. The right side has a similar wing that features a 20th-century window on the ground floor and a three-light casement window with a wood lintel in the gable end on the first floor.

Inside, the rear wing on the left side contains a ground floor room with a chamfered spine beam and joists, which have likely been renewed and altered. Similar beams can be found in the first floor room, which also has an open fireplace with an original bressumer and a 20th-century grate.
