Description
West Orchard Farmhouse is a farmhouse dated 1754, with earlier origins and 19th-century additions. It is built from coursed squared ironstone and features a slate roof with brick end stacks. The building is in an L-plan and consists of two storeys and an attic, with a four-window range. The left half has finer masonry, with a straight joint slightly to the right of the center. It includes a plank door with an overlight, set in a 19th-century open timber porch that has a gabled tile roof and bargeboards. Flanking the door are two-light casement windows with timber lintels on both the ground and first floors. There is a small one-light leaded window to the right of the center, along with additional two-light casement windows, all featuring timber lintels. To the far right, there is a single-storey brick extension. The farmhouse has a plinth and quoins, and a datestone inscribed "RS 1754" is located by the garden door at the rear. A large 19th-century wing is also present at the back. The interior has not been inspected.
