Description

PRESTON CAPES OLD FORGE LANE SP5754 (North side) 15/115 West Orchard Farmhouse - II Farmhouse. Dated 1754 with earlier origins and C19 additions. Coursed squared ironstone, slate roof, brick end stacks. L-plan. 2 storeys and attic; 4-window range. Left half of finer masonry (straight joint slightly to right of centre) has plank door with overlight, in C19 open timber porch with gabled tile roof and bargeboards, flanked by 2-light casement windows with timber lintels to ground and first floors. Small 1-light leaded window to right of centre and other 2-light casement windows, all with timber lintels. Single-storey brick extension to far right. Plinth and quoins. By garden door to rear datestone inscribed RS 1754. Large C19 wing also to rear. Interior not inspected.
