Description
Bank Cottage is a cottage believed to have originally been part of a row of three, dating from the 17th to early 18th century. It features cruck framing and is constructed from coursed ironstone rubble with a corrugated asbestos roof and ridge stacks. The building has a three-unit plan and stands two storeys high, with a three-window range. There is a 20th-century five-panel door located to the left of centre, topped with a timber lintel. The ground floor has irregularly arranged one- and two-light casement windows, with the right-hand windows featuring concrete lintels. The first floor has two-light windows with timber lintels, except for the middle window, which has a concrete lintel. Some brick courses are visible below the eaves, and quoins are present. Inside, the cottage has a riddle cruck truss, likely a full cruck, along with three open fireplaces that have timber bressumers and crudely finished spine beams. The cottage was formerly thatched.
