Description

Danecot is an early 18th-century cottage, altered in the early 19th century. It is constructed of dressed ironstone, with a pantile roof and a brick end stack on the right. The cottage has a single-unit plan and a two-storey, two-window front. A central plank door has a stop-chamfered wood lintel, and there are two-light leaded casement windows with pointed arch Gothick heads. A single-storey extension to the right has a lean-to tin roof and a pointed plank door flanked by blocked pointed arch windows, with a similar small blocked window in the gable above. Inside, the cottage features stop-chamfered spine beams. It was formerly a cottage on the Fawsley estate and was remodelled in a picturesque manner in the early 19th century. The building is included on the list for group value.
