Description

Hillcrest is a cottage located on the east side of High Street in Preston Capes. It is one of four cottages in an irregular row and dates from the early 18th century. The building features a cruck frame and is constructed of coursed ironstone rubble with a tile roof and a brick ridge stack set on a stone base.

The cottage is two stories high and has a two-window range. To the left, there is a plank door with a stop-chamfered timber lintel and a small square leaded overlight above it, supported by a long timber lintel. To the left of the door, there is a similar small square window, and above and to the right of the door, there is a two-light casement window, both of which have timber lintels.

Inside, the cottage has a stop-chamfered spine beam and a raised cruck truss.
