Description
This is an early 18th-century house, remodelled in the late 19th century. It is located in Barby, Daventry. The main part of the house is constructed from coursed squared ironstone, with the front and sides rendered. It has a slate roof and brick stacks. The building is in an L-shape and has two storeys and an attic, with three bays. The central doorway has a rendered frame and a 19th-century half-glazed door, topped with a segmental wooden pediment supported by iron columns. All windows have rendered surrounds and 19th-century sash windows; the upper section of the windows has ten small panes, while the lower section is plate glass. The gable ends are coped. A lean-to extension to the left is likely from the early 18th century and was heightened in brick during the 18th or 19th century. This one-bay extension, two storeys high, features a doorway with a plank door and wooden lintel, along with a two-light casement window with a wooden lintel above. A further extension to the rear of the right side was added in the late 18th century. The facade of this extension is constructed from blue and red chequer brick, with parts of the rear wall built using cob construction, and has a slate roof. It is two storeys high with three bays, featuring a central door with a plain wooden frame and a six-panel door, a two-light casement window with a plain brick frame to the left, and a 20th-century two-light casement window to the right. Further two-light casement windows with wooden lintels are found on the first floor. The interior of the property has not been inspected.
