Description

This is an early 19th-century house, now a house and shop. It is located in Higham Ferrers, with its main front facing College Street and an elevation to the right abutting Market Square. The building is constructed of squared, coursed limestone and has a concrete tile roof.

The front elevation has three bays and features 20th-century casement windows within original openings, each set under stone lintels with keyblocks. A central six-panel door is surrounded by a moulded wooden frame and topped with a flat hood. A 20th-century shop front is located on the right-hand side. The front has ashlar gable parapets, kneelers, and truncated brick stacks at the ridge and end.

The right-hand elevation, overlooking Market Square, includes a shallow gable on the left with Venetian-style tripartite sash windows with small panes of glass on the first and second floors. These windows are similar in style to those of the Town Hall. Sash windows to the right reduce in number at the second floor and also feature glazing bars and flat stone arches with keyblocks. A 20th-century shop window is present on the ground floor to the left.

The interior of the building was noted to have panelled window reveals, although it has not been inspected.
