Description

Number 4 and attached shop is a house, later used as a shop and house, dating to the middle or late 18th century. The building is constructed of squared coursed limestone with a 20th-century plain tile roof. Originally planned as two units, it is two storeys high with an attic. The front facade has a four-window arrangement of unhorned sash windows with glazing bars, each set under gauged stone heads with keyblocks. A 20th-century shop front, featuring a dentilled cornice, occupies the ground floor. A through passage on the left side of the building has a segmental arch head with a keyblock. A dentilled cornice runs along the top of the building, and there are three flat-topped roof dormers. Ashlar gable parapets and brick stacks are located at the ends of the building. The rear elevation includes a late 18th-century wing. The interior has not been inspected.
