Description
Number 2A, known as The Old Forge House, is a house that was originally a forge, dating from the early to mid-18th century and the 19th century. It is built from regularly coursed limestone and has a concrete tile roof. The building originally had a two-unit plan with the forge on the right side and a central carriage arch. It is two storeys high and features a four-window range with 19th and 20th century casement and sash windows, some of which have glazing bars, all set under wooden lintels. The central carriage arch has plank doors and a shallow arched head, while there is a stable door on the far right, also under a wooden lintel. A brick stack is located at the ridge. At the rear, there is a range of early 18th century former stables that are attached and are part of the Green Dragon Hotel; these have pantile roofs and tall stone stacks. The interior has not been inspected.
